SOS Alarm – platform

Challenge

Find new ways for SOS Alarm to communicate to save lives.

SOS Alarm – a public company that handles 112 emergency calls and cooperates with alarm installation and security companies – faced a significant security challenge. The company’s information and business logisticis were very well suited to building eServices for customers – but their 112-system was in a closed ‘redzone’ network.

Solution

The solution lay in connecting the 112-system to the internet. Analysis highlighted the need for a SOA-driven Generation 3 Identity & Access Management solution combined with an SOA Gateway/Firewall.

To meet this need, Cybercom successfully carried out a challenging systems integration project and, in doing so, created a complete service based security and integration solution. This incorporated Cybercom’s own IAM Platform (CESP) and partner products (Axiomatics). This included:

  • Authentication: federated identity management solution
  • Authorization: externalized authorization management solution (also called context aware access control)
  • Secure communication: ESB-based, encrypted communication and a combined SOA Firewall/Proxy/Gateway
  • Log management: service-based fully functional system for event logging

Effect

A solid, smarter base for developing eServices.

The new system provides a solid foundation for SOS-Alarm to build secure eServices. Importantly, it enables service development using the 112-system.
