Our colleague, Ivar Grimstad, has been selected to the Project Management Committee (PMC) of EE4J! Eclipse Enterprise for Java (EE4J) is a top level project at Eclipse that will be based on the JavaTM EE technologies and standards using Java EE 8 as a baseline. The leadership of the PMC will be rotated every three months and Ivar will be the first PMC lead. Read more about EE4J PMC here: https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/ee4j/pmc
Following is a short interview with Ivar.
You are the only individual in the EE4J PMC. How did you end up there?
A: I have been an active member of the Java EE community for several years now, so I guess I am a pretty familiar name in the community. Since I am not affiliated with any of the major vendors, I guess I am valued as a non-biased voice.
How will this work benefit Cybercom and our clients?
As I see it, it puts us on the map as a company that values open source contributions. The industry at large is a massive consumer of open source technologies, but not necessarily contributing as much back as it should. By allowing employees to participate and contribute to open source, Cybercom stands out as a responsible company. For our clients, this means that we can be trusted with the technical choices we make since we are not only leveraging technologies that others have built. It also shows that we are passionate about what we are doing.
How can we stay up-to-date with what is happening with EE4J?
The best way is to subscribe to the community mailing lists https://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/ee4j-community and join the discussions there.
