The 1.5°C Business Playbook supports the worldwide call to action for all companies to set sharp climate targets now and establish a strategy throughout their value chain, business proposition and beyond, which is aligned with the ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
The Playbook is based on four pillars: first, to reduce the company’s own emissions and then to reduce the company’s value chain emissions. The third pillar is to transform the company’s products, services and projects to generate low or zero emissions or even remove carbon from the atmosphere. The fourth pillar is to work with other actors in society to accelerate climate action.
Focused on simplicity and speed, the Playbook is aimed at helping the global economy to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.
“I am excited that we have joined the 1,5 °C Business Playbook initiative since our business strategy and our offering for digital sustainability is so aligned with the Playbook, and especially its third pillar. Since 2016, we have been helping our clients to integrate climate in their business strategies, and I am sure we can contribute with our expertise and methodologies for continuous positive impact within the initiative” says Niklas Flyborg, CEO and President Cybercom Group.
Cybercom has been an active member of UN Global Compact since 2011 and for years been committed to reducing its own negative impact. In 2019 Cybercom signed the global Science Based Targets initiative and was appointed Ambitious Climate Leader by UN Global Compact.
The greatest potential for Cybercom to have a positive impact, is by influencing its clients and, by extension, their end consumers lifestyles and consumption patterns. This was confirmed by the Innovation Driven Roadmap for Fossil-Free Competitiveness and Global Sustainability (Fossilfritt Sverige), which was handed over to the Swedish government in March 2019.
“We aim to help our clients to align their digital transformation efforts with the playbooks third pillar. We have unique competence on how to enable avoided emissions by implementing technology and by exploring new tech-enabled business-models.” says Ingemar Jansson, Head of Sustainable Strategy & Business Development at Cybercom Group
“We designed the 1.5°C Business Playbook to make it easy for businesses to set sharp targets and meet them through clear action. In fact, many companies can halve their emissions much faster than every decade,” Johan Falk, Co-Founder and Head of Exponential Roadmap Initiative.
